Reflecting on Nigeria’s journey since independence, Wike said the country possesses vast human and natural resources but continues to struggle with poverty, insecurity and weak public services.

He traced many of these challenges to poor leadership, noting that development can only be achieved when governments prioritise long-term planning, accountability and effective execution.

The minister maintained that infrastructure forms the backbone of national growth.

According to him, roads, schools, hospitals, electricity and water projects are the true evidence of leadership because they create opportunities, strengthen communities and improve living standards.

He urged future leaders to focus on service, discipline and responsibility rather than political rhetoric.

Addressing the graduating students, Wike encouraged them to embrace integrity, courage and vision as they prepare to enter public and professional life.

He said Nigeria requires a new generation of leaders committed to solving problems, building strong institutions and delivering lasting development for future generations.
