The concern was raised by his spokesperson, Muyiwa Adekeye, who spoke about the situation and called attention to his condition.

Adekeye said the former governor experienced discomfort during detention but did not receive medical attention from the commission.

He stated that no doctor was made available to assess or treat the eye condition while he remained in custody.

He argued that detainees should have access to healthcare whenever medical issues arise, regardless of the nature of the investigation.

He added that denying treatment raises questions about the welfare standards within detention facilities.

The ICPC has not issued a public response to the allegation. The report adds to ongoing attention surrounding El-Rufai’s legal matters and his treatment while under investigation.
