Tinubu’s Administration Can Track Critics, Not Terrorists – Ex Minister

Former Sports Minister Solomon Dalung has criticised President Bola Tinubu’s administration over the worsening security situation in Nigeria.

Speaking on Arise Television, Dalung said the government appears more focused on political calculations ahead of the 2027 elections while terrorists continue to attack communities, abduct citizens and spread fear across the country.

He argued that the government possesses the tools and capacity to monitor critics and opponents but has failed to apply the same energy to tracking criminal groups operating in forests and rural communities.

According to him, this has raised concerns about the commitment of authorities to ending terrorism, banditry and kidnapping.

Dalung also faulted recent calls for national unity against terrorism, describing them as evidence that the government lacks a clear solution to the security crisis.

He blamed the situation on poor coordination among security agencies, claiming that intelligence sharing and joint operations have not been effective enough to stop the growing threat.

The former minister further criticised the administration’s economic and security record, saying many Nigerians are facing hardship despite government reforms.

Looking ahead to the 2027 elections, he warned that rising regional political interests could create fresh challenges for the country’s political landscape.
