Boko Haram insurgents on Wednesday launched deadly attack in Katarko community in Gujba Local Government Area of Yobe State.
They stormed the town around 5:50pm, a civilian sources confirmed.
Kartako town is close to Damaturu, Yobe State capital.
Baga town in Kukawa Local Govt area of Borno State is also under attack.
It was gathered that the insurgents, who stormed the town with gun trucks and different caliber of weapons, have razed many houses.
Another source said some of the residents who were alerted prior to the attack have fled into the bush.
He said soldiers were seen deployed to the area to repel the insurgents.
Similarly, the insurgents also launched another attack in Baga town in Borno state, a senior military officer who preferred anonymity confirmed the attack.
The officer said both attacks were repelled by troops in the areas.
“Two signals of attacks came in from Katarko and Baga but both attacks were promptly repel and the situations have been brought under control,” he said.
It should be recalled that on Christmas day, Gamboru, in Ngala LGA of Borno state was attacked too.
Kukareta in Yobe State was also attacked on Christmas day and 21 soldiers, two policemen were killed.
