Wike’s Aide Blames Neglect For Insecurity

In Nigeria, a media aide to Nyesom Wike has stirred debate over the roots of insecurity in the North.

Lere Olayinka blamed poor parenting and unchecked polygamy among low-income earners.

He argued that raising many children without care or education is worsening social problems. His comments have drawn mixed reactions online.

The issue came up in a post shared on X, where Olayinka criticised men earning little but marrying multiple wives and having large families.

He said such children often lack proper care and opportunities. According to him, many of them later become vulnerable to crime. He warned that the trend could fuel long-term instability.

Olayinka also pointed to the growing number of street children in Abuja. He described them as a warning sign of deeper social neglect. He questioned how such children survive and what their future holds. The situation, he said, reflects a wider failure beyond government control.

The comments echo earlier concerns raised by John Onaiyekan over the Almajiri system. The cleric had linked abandoned children to rising insecurity in the region.
