Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has declared his support for President Bola Tinubu and the Rainbow Coalition ahead of the 2027 elections, saying the state must move beyond conflict and embrace peace.
Fubara made the declaration in a video shared on X while addressing his supporters. He also endorsed the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Rivers State, Kingsley Chinda.
The governor said peace had been restored in the state and urged his supporters to back the coalition, describing the period of political conflict as over.
He said Chinda was his preferred candidate for the governorship election and called on everyone who believed in him to support the politician.
Fubara also addressed supporters who had reportedly expected to receive something from him before offering their backing. He said there was nothing to collect and urged them to give their full support to the coalition.
The governor said Rivers State needed to move forward, adding that the current atmosphere of peace could take the state to a new level. He noted that people could miss out on one opportunity and gain another elsewhere.
Fubara further clarified that his supporters should not interpret their backing as support for his own political ambition. He said he would not be part of any arrangement that could undermine the state’s progress.
He added that he had taken the necessary steps and that his focus was now on moving the state forward.
