The party said the owner of Rainbow Event Centre was allegedly threatened with licence withdrawal.

This comes as preparations for the convention reached a final stage. The claim has stirred fresh concerns about political interference.

The issue arose after the party said it had paid for the venue and completed arrangements.

According to its spokesperson, Bolaji Abdullahi, the centre’s owner later reported pressure linked to officials of the Federal Capital Territory Administration.

The warning allegedly stated that hosting the party could lead to revocation of the facility’s licence. The claim has not been officially confirmed by authorities.

Despite the development, the party said it would go ahead with its convention as planned. It maintained that a valid agreement had already been signed with the venue owner.

The ADC also criticised what it described as attempts to disrupt its activities. The situation adds to earlier difficulties the party faced in securing a location.

The controversy follows failed attempts to use Eagle Square and the Moshood Abiola National Stadium. Party officials said some private venues also declined requests due to fear of possible consequences.

As of now, no response has been issued by the FCT authorities. The standoff sets the stage for a tense political atmosphere around the event.
