ICPC Details Seized Items Of El Rufai Home

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission has released details of items it said were taken from the Abuja residence of former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El Rufai.

The disclosure was made on Monday in filings before the Federal Capital Territory High Court, where the agency is opposing his N1bn fundamental rights suit over his arrest, detention and the search carried out last month.

It said the operation, conducted with police officers and witnessed by his wife Hadiza and son Mohammed, led to the seizure of investor account records, asset declaration forms, company registration papers, loan documents approved by the Kaduna State House of Assembly between 2015 and 2023, and reports linked to ongoing investigations.

The agency also listed several electronic gadgets, including nine flash drives, a memory card, seven hard drives, laptops such as Apple MacBook Pro and Elumac Book Pro models, mobile phones of different brands, and a Remarkable tablet.

It stated that all devices were logged, sealed and scheduled for forensic checks, with serial numbers and storage details captured in official documentation.

The commission noted that El Rufai declined consent for access to the devices.

In response, his family accused the commission of turning his silence into suspicion and insisted he was exercising a constitutional right.

The ICPC, however, said its actions were lawful and part of its duty to probe alleged corruption and asset concealment.
