In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ramhan Nansel, said designated routes, adjoining roads and strategic locations across Lafia would be affected to facilitate the movement of the presidential convoy and manage the expected crowd.

The police advised motorists, commercial tricycle operators, motorcycle riders and other road users to obey traffic regulations and follow instructions from security personnel at diversion points.

Commuters were also urged to plan their journeys, allow for possible delays and use alternative routes as directed by officers. Business owners, transport operators and residents in the affected areas were advised to make necessary arrangements ahead of the restrictions.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Shetima Jauro Mohamed, appealed to residents to remain calm and cooperate with security operatives throughout the visit.

He also advised people without official or legitimate business around the rally venue and designated security zones to avoid the restricted areas.

Political stakeholders and supporters were urged to conduct themselves peacefully and avoid actions that could disrupt public order.

The command said security personnel had been deployed to strategic locations across the metropolis to protect lives and property, maintain order and ensure the smooth conduct of the rally.

Residents were further encouraged to report suspicious movements, unattended objects and other security concerns to the nearest police station.

The police apologised for any inconvenience caused by the temporary arrangements and reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining security across the state.
