Soludo Confirms Peter Obi’s Wife as Godmother to His Child

Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, has confirmed that the wife of former governor Peter Obi is the godmother of one of his children, clarifying a family relationship that attracted public attention in September.

Soludo also revealed that his wife, Nonye, is the confirmation godmother of Obi’s daughter.

The governor made the disclosure during an interview with BBC News Igbo on Monday, describing Obi as a close friend and maintaining that their families remained on good terms despite their political differences.

He explained that Obi’s wife became the godmother of his child during baptism, while his wife assumed the role of confirmation godmother to Obi’s daughter.

Soludo said their disagreement was strictly political, particularly regarding their preferred candidates for the Anambra governorship.

He noted that while he supported his own political vision for the state and Obi backed a different candidate, he did not hold their differences against the former governor.

The governor added that he and Obi maintained a cordial relationship despite their contrasting political positions.
