ADC Factions Clash In Oyo
A leadership dispute has erupted in the Oyo State chapter of the African Democratic Congress as two rival groups claim control of the party’s Membership Revalidation and Membership Registration Committee.
The conflict surfaced during the ongoing membership exercise across the state.
The state leadership of the party has backed Ayo Akinyemi as the recognised chairman of the committee and dismissed claims that another committee had been formed.
Party officials made this known during a briefing at the ADC secretariat in Mokola, Ibadan.
The disagreement followed an earlier announcement by Bisi Ilaka, who introduced members of what he described as a separate committee.
Party authorities, however, insisted that only the committee inaugurated by the national leadership in Abuja on February 12 is valid.
Despite the dispute, the party said the membership registration exercise is progressing across the 33 local government areas in the state as leaders continue efforts to strengthen the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
