A former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Chibudom Nwuche, has told politicians claiming loyalty to President Bola Tinubu to prove it by securing victory for him in their states ahead of the 2027 election.

He said support must go beyond words and reflect in results at the polls.
Nwuche, who chairs the South South Development Commission, spoke during a thank you visit by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, to Ahoada East Local Government Area of Rivers State. The visit was part of efforts to strengthen support for Tinubu’s second-term bid.

He warned politicians from outside Rivers to stay out of the state’s political affairs, saying every state has its own realities. According to him, politics starts from the grassroots, and those seeking relevance should focus on their home states rather than interfering elsewhere.
Nwuche praised Wike for rallying Rivers voters behind Tinubu in the 2023 presidential election and for backing Siminalayi Fubara’s emergence as governor. He said many leaders followed Wike’s lead at the time out of trust, even though the outcome later fell short of expectations.

He also credited Wike with executing over 22 projects in the area, describing his record as unmatched by any Rivers governor since 1999. Nwuche said Wike’s performance earned him lasting loyalty from the people.
Wike explained that the visit was to thank the community for its past support and to encourage renewed commitment ahead of 2027. He assured residents that lessons had been learned and urged them to stay united behind Tinubu’s leadership going forward.
