Alabraba spoke on Tuesday in Abonnema, Akuku-Toru Local Government Area, during a thank-you visit by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
He described Wike as a major force in Nigerian politics and praised his leadership style, saying the former Rivers governor took two key decisions in 2023 that reshaped the state’s political direction.

According to him, Wike ensured power shifted to the Ijaw ethnic nationality after 24 years and also aligned Rivers State with Tinubu’s presidential bid, even while his party retained other elective positions in the state.
Alabraba suggested that the current political tension in Rivers stemmed from a failure to appreciate Wike’s role, adding that the Ijaw people were not known for ingratitude.

He said Wike’s support for Tinubu was the single decision that kept Rivers State “afloat” and assured the minister that the people knew where they stood ahead of the 2027 elections.
Responding, Wike thanked Rivers people for standing by him in 2023 and declared full support for Tinubu’s re-election in 2027, saying there would be no alternative choice.
