Fubara Rejects Claims Of Shutting Out Wike’s Allies

Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has pushed back against reports that he blocked lawmakers and political allies linked to Nyesom Wike from meeting with him.

The governor addressed the issue during the commissioning of the Ahoda–Omoku Road extension in Ahoda West, saying he had kept his doors open since returning to office after the recent political tension in the state.

Fubara explained that his visit to President Bola Tinubu was strictly for the state’s interest and not tied to any dispute with lawmakers. He said efforts were made to arrange a meeting through party leadership, noting that the task was assigned to the Minister and party leader. According to him, the meeting has simply not been scheduled, contrary to claims that he refused engagement.

The governor said the rumours were untrue and insisted he had no reason to avoid lawmakers. He stressed that unity was important for the peace of Rivers State and that he was ready to address any concerns raised by members of the Assembly. He noted that he had often been targeted with misleading narratives and felt duty-bound to correct falsehoods.

Fubara also thanked residents of Ahoada, Ogba, Ekpeye and nearby communities for their support. He assured them that his administration was stepping up development efforts across all communities and would keep its promises.

He told the crowd that the Ahoda–Omoku road extension was a campaign commitment. He recalled that former governor Nyesom Wike commissioned the first phase and pledged that the project would reach Omoku if residents backed him. He said the newly completed stretch would boost economic activity and improve safety along the route.
