Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has appointed Benibo Anabraba as the new Secretary to the State Government.

The appointment was confirmed in a statement issued on Monday by Dr. Honour Sirawoo, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Information and Communications.

According to the statement, Anabraba is to be sworn in today, Monday, October 13, 2025, at 4:00 p.m. at the State Executive Council Chambers, Government House, Port Harcourt.

The development comes shortly after Fubara’s reinstatement as governor, following months of political and legal turmoil that led to the declaration of emergency rule in Rivers State by President Bola Tinubu.

During the emergency rule, Ibas suspended all commissioners, aides, and heads of parastatals appointed by Fubara, effectively dissolving the state’s executive structure.
Following the lifting of the emergency on September 18, the Rivers State House of Assembly urged Fubara to present a new list of commissioner-nominees and the 2025 budget for consideration.
Since returning to office, Fubara has made a series of administrative moves aimed at rebuilding his cabinet and consolidating control of the state government.
