The Osun State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal has received separate petitions from the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), challenging the re-election of Governor Ademola Adeleke.

The petitions, dated September 5, 2026, were displayed on the notice board of the tribunal secretariat in Osogbo on Monday, formally beginning the process for hearing disputes arising from the August 15 governorship election.

The Secretary of the tribunal, Pefe Belemore, confirmed that petitions challenging the election outcome had been filed before the tribunal.
The APC and PDP are contesting the result that returned Adeleke as governor for another term.

The APC petition, filed as suit number EPT/OS/GOV/01/2026, was submitted by its governorship candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji. The respondents listed in the case are Governor Adeleke, the Accord Party and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The PDP also filed petition EPT/OS/GOV/02/2026 through Adebayo Olugbenga Adedamola against Adeleke, INEC and the Accord Party.
The display of the petitions is expected to pave the way for the next stages of the legal process, including serving the relevant court documents on the parties involved.
Officials of the Accord Party and members of its legal team were also seen at the tribunal premises as preparations continued for the commencement of proceedings.
The petitions will now be considered as the tribunal begins the process of determining the legal challenges to the outcome of the Osun governorship election.
