Makinde PDP Camp Challenges Wike
The Peoples Democratic Party faction backed by Seyi Makinde has insisted that its primaries and national convention will go ahead despite opposition from Nyesom Wike.
The group said preparations for the 2027 elections are already underway.
In a statement issued by interim spokesman Ini Ememobong, the camp dismissed Wike’s criticisms and accused him of trying to destabilise the party.
The statement also confirmed that nomination forms are already being sold to aspirants.
The faction maintained that no threat or political pressure would stop the convention process that will produce the party’s presidential candidate.
It also rejected Wike’s claims about party accounts and leadership control, insisting the PDP structure remains functional.
The fresh exchange shows the growing power struggle inside the PDP as rival blocs battle for control ahead of the next general elections.
The crisis continues to expose deep divisions within the opposition party.
