PDP Disowns Ibadan Press Conference
In Ibadan, the South West wing of the Peoples Democratic Party rejected a press briefing held on Monday, saying it did not come from its leadership.
The party said the event falsely claimed it had taken positions on Ayodele Fayose, Seyi Makinde and a factional leadership. It insisted no authorised officials were involved.
The denial was issued by Akinloye Oyeniyi, who described those behind the gathering as impostors with no link to the party.
He said the zonal chairman, Deji Doherty, was in Abuja for a national meeting and did not approve any briefing. The party maintained that no such event was held under its authority.
The zone said the group lacks recognition at all levels and does not represent any party structure. It added that the organisers have no mandate and are not known within the party system.
The statement also pointed out gaps in the group’s structure, raising doubts about its claims to speak for the region.
The PDP reaffirmed loyalty to its national leadership, including Nyesom Wike, and warned the public to ignore the claims.
It advised those involved to return through proper party channels. The zone said only official communication from recognised leaders should be trusted going forward.
