Gbenga Daniel Locked Out Of APC Meeting
In Ijebu Ode, Senator Gbenga Daniel was stopped from entering an All Progressives Congress caucus meeting on Monday.
The gathering held at Adeola Odutola Hall in Ogun East. A viral clip showed his convoy turned back at the entrance.
The incident quickly drew attention within party circles.
The senator arrived for the meeting but was denied access by party officials. Speaking outside the venue, he told supporters that decisions taken at the meeting would not stand.
He insisted the exclusion raised questions about the legitimacy of the process. His comments came as tensions within the party deepened.
The situation follows his suspension by the APC in August 2025 over alleged anti-party actions. He had urged supporters to back a Peoples Democratic Party candidate during a by-election. That election was held to replace the late Adewunmi Onanuga. The APC later won the poll through Adesola Elegbeji.
The latest clash comes as Daniel seeks another term in the Senate. He is expected to face Governor Dapo Abiodun for the party’s ticket in Ogun East.
The contest has fuelled rivalry between both camps. Party insiders say the struggle for control may shape the next election in the district.
