NERC Gives Power Substations Deadline
The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission has ordered private transmission substations linked to the national grid to obtain an Independent Electricity Transmission Network Operator permit within 45 days.
The directive targets privately owned substations that operate within the national transmission system but have yet to secure formal regulatory approval from the electricity regulator.
According to the commission, the move is aimed at strengthening oversight within the transmission network and ensuring that all operators comply with existing regulatory standards in the power sector.
Operators of the affected facilities have now been given a 45 day deadline to regularise their status or risk facing regulatory action from the commission.
