Court Ruling Opens New Path For PDP – Wike
Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, says the recent Court of Appeal decision on the Peoples Democratic Party convention offers the party a chance to rebuild and restore unity among its members.
He spoke with journalists in Abuja on Monday after the court affirmed the nullification of the party’s national convention held in Ibadan.
Wike explained that the judgement confirmed that the convention organised in November 2025 could not stand because proper procedures were not followed.
He stated that the court found that valid congresses were not held in some states and that the required notice was not properly given to the Independent National Electoral Commission before the convention took place.
Wike added that once such rules are ignored, the matter moves beyond internal party issues and becomes a question of compliance with the law.
The minister urged members of the PDP to treat the judgement as an opportunity to reconcile and strengthen the party.
