The screening took place on Monday at the Assembly complex in Port Harcourt, where lawmakers reviewed the candidates for possible appointment into the state executive council.

The Assembly cleared five nominees during the session. Those who secured approval are Tonye Bellgam, Professor Temple Nwofor, Dr Peters Nwagor, Lekue Kenneth, and Sir Amairigha Edward Hart, allowing them to proceed with their roles in the government.

However, four candidates failed to secure confirmation. The rejected nominees are Professor Datonye Alasia, Mrs Charity Deemua, Tamuno Williams, and Otonye TKD Amachree, as lawmakers decided not to endorse their appointments during the screening exercise.

Governor Fubara had earlier sent the list of nine nominees to the Assembly on March 5, 2026, after dissolving the State Executive Council.

The exercise marks the first commissioner screening conducted by the lawmakers since the end of the emergency rule in Rivers State in September 2025.
