The minister said the meeting had no connection to PDP affairs and was simply meant to show support for Tinubu’s leadership, insisting that his political stance had always been open and required no secret discussions.
He described the allegation as false and accused Makinde of spreading an untrue story after failing to secure a ministerial nomination for his preferred candidate under the current administration.

Wike also said his role as a minister included ensuring that members of the G5 group received fair treatment under Tinubu’s government, adding that this responsibility should not be misrepresented as political betrayal.
He further pointed to federal support given to Oyo State, including funds released after the Bodija explosion, and said Makinde should account to residents on how such public money was used, noting that proper approval processes were required before spending.
