The Federal Capital Territory Administration has begun enforcement actions on 1,095 properties in Abuja after years of unpaid ground rent, C-of-O bills, penalty fees, and land use conversion fees.

The affected titles are located in Asokoro, Maitama, Garki, and Wuse.

The move follows several public notices issued between May and November urging defaulting property owners to clear their outstanding payments or risk revocation. Despite repeated announcements in newspapers, online platforms, and television stations, many owners failed to comply.

According to the notice released on Friday, the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, approved the enforcement in line with the Land Use Act, which allows the government to withdraw property rights from holders who violate the terms of occupancy. The administration said the listed property owners breached Section 28(5a and b) of the Act by refusing to meet their financial obligations.
Out of the 1,095 affected titles, 835 were flagged for ground rent default, while 260 were cited for violation fees and land use conversion issues. The final 14-day grace period ended on November 25, clearing the way for immediate action.
With the enforcement now underway, the FCTA is expected to begin taking possession of the affected properties while urging residents to meet all land-related obligations to avoid losing their titles.
