He explained that the projects include new furniture and repairs aimed at improving learning conditions for pupils across the state.

His remarks followed a viral video showing pupils of St. Westley Primary School in Omuo-Ekiti sitting in a building whose roof was destroyed by a rainstorm. He said the affected block had already been captured under the 2024 intervention plan and also listed for the 2025 UBEC Direct Intervention Funding scheme.

According to him, pupils and teachers were moved to other classrooms since the last academic session, and the board is investigating why they were still found in the unsafe building. He warned that those responsible would face sanctions.

Akinwumi added that the government has adopted stronger roofing materials in school projects to reduce the impact of storms. He said new buildings now use high-gauge aluminium sheets, a measure that has helped to cut down storm damage in recent years.
