In a statement on Sunday, the party’s publicity secretary, Mohammed Abdullahi, said Atiku used the tragedy as an avenue for politics instead of showing support to grieving families. The APC accused him of releasing a misleading statement that got both the casualty figure and location wrong.

The party alleged that insecurity worsened under the PDP government in which Atiku served, arguing that he failed to provide meaningful development to Adamawa, including his hometown of Jada. It recalled that during the height of Boko Haram attacks, Atiku was silent, but has now chosen to speak only when the state is recovering.

According to the APC, the Tinubu administration is working with security agencies to restore peace and rebuild affected communities, unlike what it described as years of neglect under past leadership.

The statement said Atiku’s reaction showed insensitivity and a disconnect from the people he claims to represent. It reaffirmed the party’s support for victims of the Madagali killings, offering prayers for the bereaved while assuring residents that insurgents would be defeated.

The APC concluded that Adamawa people know those who stood with them during their worst moments and those seeking to exploit their pain for political gain.
