President Bola Tinubu on Thursday summoned the immediate past Rivers State Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (retd.), to the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

Ibas, dressed in brown native attire, arrived at about 5:50 p.m. and was accompanied by the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, as well as the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ola Olukayede.

Earlier, Edun had entered the Villa briefly before returning with a file, suggesting the seriousness of the meeting.

Ibas served as sole administrator of Rivers State for six months under emergency rule, which ended on September 17. His tenure concluded after Tinubu directed Governor Siminalayi Fubara, his deputy, and the state House of Assembly members to return to office.
The Rivers State House of Assembly, led by Speaker Martin Amaewhule, has already resolved to probe financial activities carried out during the six-month emergency rule. Lawmakers said they would examine spending from the consolidated revenue fund, including contract awards and other expenditures.
Ibas had earlier dismissed the plan to investigate his administration’s finances.
Records show that Rivers State received about ₦254.37 billion from the Federation Account Allocation Committee between March and August 2025 while Ibas was in charge.
