Gbenga Daniel Starts Movement For Tinubu Re-election

Senator Gbenga Daniel, representing Ogun East, has unveiled a new political movement to push for the reelection of President Bola Tinubu in 2027.

The initiative, known as BATOGD, was launched on Sunday during the commissioning of the Renewed Hope International Market in Igode-Remo, Sagamu Local Government Area of Ogun State. The event formed part of Daniel’s midterm community assessment tour across his senatorial district.

The former governor described Tinubu’s leadership as bold and reform-driven, pointing to economic policies and governance changes that he believes have redirected the country toward growth. According to him, the president’s reelection will further consolidate ongoing reforms and strengthen national development.

Daniel explained that the BATOGD Movement would serve as a grassroots mobilization platform, rallying support for the president. He noted that his decision stemmed from the administration’s economic reforms, which he said had rekindled citizens’ hope in a more prosperous nation.

The senator also highlighted his legislative record, citing his sponsorship of the bill establishing the Southwest Development Commission and another seeking the creation of a new state out of Ogun. He stressed that his return to the Senate in 2027 is crucial to achieving the creation of Ijebu State, an agitation he has championed for years.

According to him, continuity in the National Assembly is vital for ensuring the passage of pending bills, and he disclosed that 75 senators have already endorsed the proposal for Ijebu State. He argued that out of all provinces created in 1923, only Ijebu has yet to attain statehood, making the demand both justifiable and overdue.

At the event, the Onigode of Igode, Oba Jamiu Sule-Onosipe, praised the federal government for establishing the modern market in his community. He said the project would boost food security, reduce waste, and improve livelihoods across Ogun State.

The monarch also commended Daniel for his lobbying efforts that brought the market to Remo land and urged the state government to rehabilitate the Gbaga–Fakale–Igode–Eyin-Ogbe Oke–Igbodo road linking Ogun to Lagos.
