Former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Chief Olabode George, has accused the party’s leadership of sidelining Lagos State chapter executives in the build-up to the ward and state congresses ahead of the November national convention in Ibadan.

In a petition to Acting National Chairman Umar Damagum and the National Working Committee, George alleged that Deputy National Secretary Setonji Koshoedo hijacked nomination forms and distributed them without consulting the state leadership.

He described the move as “worrisome,” questioning why Koshoedo ignored party elders in Lagos, including two life members of the Board of Trustees, who had already begun building consensus among members. George further alleged that some forms were given to defectors now working with opposition parties.

The PDP chieftain warned that Koshoedo’s alleged actions were linked to his 2027 governorship ambition, which he said could destabilise the party. He urged the NWC to call him to order, insisting that Lagos PDP would not allow a repeat of past manipulations that weakened the party during the last governorship election.

George declared Koshoedo “persona non grata” in Lagos, accusing him of disloyalty and unfair practices. He called for a transparent process where members could pay for forms and compete fairly, stressing that the “era of deceit” in Lagos PDP must end.

When contacted, Koshoedo declined to comment on the petition, saying only that he was focused on the assignment given to him by the party headquarters.
