The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control has uncovered a warehouse in Ilasa-Oshodi, Lagos, where counterfeit malaria drugs valued at N1.2 billion were stored.

According to the agency, its operatives intercepted 277 cartons of the fake product known as Malamal Forte. Investigations revealed the drugs were illegally imported from China and smuggled into the country disguised as spare parts. The consignment was concealed in cartons labeled Diclofenac Potassium 50mg to avoid detection.

The agency explained that the discovery followed a surveillance operation targeted at tracking fake and substandard medicines across the country. Officials described the seizure as a major breakthrough in the ongoing clampdown on counterfeit drug networks.
