Gunmen who abducted members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Kogi State have reportedly demanded N20 million for each corps member still in captivity.

The victims were among 15 NYSC members travelling from Bayelsa State to Abuja after completing their three-week orientation programme when the attackers intercepted their vehicles along the Aloma-Egane Expressway in Ofu Local Government Area of Kogi State.

A relative of one of the abducted corps members said the kidnappers had contacted some families and communicated their ransom demands.
The family member said the kidnappers were demanding N20 million for the release of the victim.

The abduction was earlier confirmed by the Kogi State Police Command, which said passengers, including NYSC members, were attacked along the route.
According to the police, a joint security operation led to the rescue of 11 abducted persons, including the drivers of the two vehicles involved in the incident.
Security operatives are still working to locate and rescue those who remain in the custody of the kidnappers.
The development has raised concerns among families of the affected corps members, who are calling for urgent action to secure the release of their relatives.
The families have appealed to the Federal Government, NYSC authorities and security agencies to intensify efforts to track down the kidnappers and bring the remaining victims home safely.
