The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC) has identified two suspected cases of Ebola disease in Nigeria’s North-East region, with both individuals placed in isolation as health authorities investigate the reports.
In an update on the disease situation, the agency said contact identification and listing were ongoing, while samples collected from the suspected cases had been sent for laboratory testing.
The NCDC clarified that describing the individuals as suspected cases did not mean they had tested positive for Ebola, stressing that confirmation would depend on the outcome of laboratory investigations.
The agency advised Nigerians to maintain proper hand hygiene, observe improved sanitation practices and comply with preventive measures issued by public health authorities.
It added that further updates would be released as verified information becomes available.
