President Bola Tinubu has nominated six executive directors for the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), forwarding their names to the Senate for confirmation.
The nominations comprise three reappointments and three new appointments. Each nominee is expected to serve a five-year term if confirmed by the Senate.
The President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, announced the nominations in a statement on Friday.
According to a letter dated October 30, 2026, Tinubu renominated Abiodun Adeniji as Executive Director of Finance and Accounts; Ogbugo Ukoha as Executive Director of Distribution Systems, Storage and Retailing Infrastructure; and Mustapha Lamorde as Executive Director of Health, Safety, Environment and Community.
The three new nominees are Mobolaji Musa, who has been nominated as Executive Director of Hydrocarbon Processing Plants, Installations and Transportation Infrastructure; Ogechukwu Modie, for the position of Executive Director of Economic Regulations and Strategic Planning; and Said Abutalib, as Executive Director of Corporate Services and Administration.
Tinubu urged the Senate to consider the nominations promptly to maintain institutional continuity and strengthen the authority’s regulatory and oversight responsibilities.
The President also approved the appointment of Jumoke Gafar as Secretary to the Board and Legal Adviser. Her appointment is subject to the completion of the statutory procedures outlined in Section 46 of the Petroleum Industry Act.
The latest nominations come several months after Tinubu appointed Rabiu Umar as the NMDPRA chief executive in April.
