The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has said its presidential candidate, former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, will campaign in all 36 states ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
The party’s Director of Strategic Communication, Phrank Shaibu, made this known during an interview with ARISE News on Sunday, assuring Nigerians that no state would be excluded from the campaign.
Shaibu said the party would release its campaign schedule within days, adding that the programme would cover the country comprehensively.
He explained that Atiku’s campaign would go beyond rallies in state capitals to include town hall meetings, community visits and engagements with residents in local government areas and villages.
According to him, the approach is intended to enable the former vice-president to interact directly with Nigerians, listen to their concerns and understand the challenges they face.
Shaibu argued that economic hardship was affecting people across the country, regardless of their location, and maintained that Atiku’s support base was not restricted to northern Nigeria.
He said the economic difficulties confronting residents of Zamfara were similar to those experienced by people in Lagos, arguing that Nigerians struggling with hunger and other financial pressures would support Atiku at the polls.
Asked which southern states the ADC candidate expected to win, Shaibu expressed confidence in Atiku’s prospects, claiming that he would win across the country.
The proposed nationwide campaign contrasts with President Bola Tinubu’s remarks at the inauguration of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council in Abuja on October 14.
At the event, Tinubu said he would not accompany the campaign team to every rally, citing his responsibilities as president and the country’s financial obligations. He maintained that his duties in office would continue even as the campaign progressed.
The ADC campaign council has also criticised Tinubu’s reported plan to make personal appearances in 12 states, arguing that a presidential candidate seeking re-election should engage voters across the country.
