Group knocks Atiku Over Jonathan Claim
The Goodluck Jonathan Legacy Project has challenged comments by Atiku Abubakar on the leadership record of Goodluck Jonathan.
The reaction followed a television interview where Atiku questioned Jonathan’s experience.
The group said the remarks sparked concern among Jonathan’s supporters.
During the programme, Atiku described Jonathan as a decent leader but linked his performance in office to a lack of experience.
The statement quickly drew attention across political circles. It reopened debate over the former president’s time in power.
Responding a day later, the group’s coordinator, Juan Amechee, rejected the claim and defended Jonathan’s record.
He argued that Atiku was not in a position to judge Jonathan’s experience. The group insisted that the former president’s leadership should be viewed within the context of his time.
The GJLP maintained that public commentary on past leaders should be fair and balanced. It urged political figures to avoid remarks that could distort public perception.
The exchange adds to ongoing political tensions ahead of future elections.
