UTME Glitch Candidates To Get New Dates

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has assured candidates affected by technical issues during the 2026 UTME that they will be rescheduled.

The update came in Abuja on Friday as the board addressed lawmakers monitoring the exercise. It said every registered candidate will still sit for the exam.

The board explained that some candidates faced delays and system faults at a number of CBT centres after the test began nationwide.
Officials said the scale of the exam, with millions of candidates across hundreds of centres, made minor disruptions likely.
They added that all affected candidates would be given fresh dates and venues.

JAMB also said a mop-up exercise will be organised to cover candidates who missed their exams due to technical problems or other issues.
It noted that even those who fail to attend a rescheduled session will be given another chance.
The board maintained that no candidate will lose the opportunity to write the test.
Meanwhile, the Senate Committee on Tertiary Education, led by Mohammed Dandutse, acknowledged the challenges and called for improvements.
Lawmakers said steps would be taken to ensure CBT centres work better.
They stressed that no candidate should travel long distances and still be unable to take the exam.
