Kogi Youths Rejects INEC Removal Plot
A group of youths in Kogi State staged a protest in support of Joash Amupitan, warning against any alleged move to remove him from office.
The demonstrators said credible elections must begin with stability at the leadership of the Independent National Electoral Commission.
The protest followed claims of a plot to unseat the chairman ahead of future elections.
The youths described such a move as a threat to democratic processes and urged authorities to allow the commission operate without interference.
Carrying placards, the group insisted that the independence of the electoral body must be protected at all times.
They said any attempt to tamper with its leadership could weaken public trust in elections.
The protesters called on relevant institutions to safeguard the commission and ensure a level playing field for all political actors as preparations for 2027 continue.
