Wike Boosts PDP Confidence
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has urged members of the Peoples Democratic Party to stay confident ahead of the 2027 elections, dismissing fears that losing governors in some states will weaken the party.
He spoke at the party’s 107th National Executive Committee meeting in Abuja.
Wike said electoral victory depends more on strategy, courage and grassroots support than control of state structures, telling members not to be discouraged by current political shifts and defections.
He also expressed confidence that the party’s national convention scheduled for March 29 and 30 will go smoothly, adding that ongoing reconciliation efforts could bring back former members willing to recommit to the party.
The minister, however, warned against opportunism and stressed that only those genuinely loyal to the party should be accepted, while also criticising Seyi Makinde and others over what he described as inconsistent political moves.
