The situation has unsettled many workers, especially senior academics who say their careers have stalled despite meeting the required standards.

The crisis centres on allegations that some staff members linked to the Vice-Chancellor, Prof Bidemi Balikis Lafiaji-Okuneye, are being moved rapidly through grade levels without following laid-down rules.

Reports from within the university suggest that certain individuals were advanced from junior positions to senior ranks within a short period, bypassing normal procedures and approvals.

At the same time, many employees say they have been left behind. Staff promoted in 2023 are still waiting for months of unpaid arrears, while others due for advancement in 2024 and 2025 claim their applications are no longer being processed.

The situation has fueled claims that merit no longer determines progress within the institution.

Frustrated workers have now turned to the state government for help, urging Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to step in as Visitor to the university.

They are calling for an independent panel to examine alleged abuses of power and financial issues, warning that continued silence could deepen the crisis and damage the school’s future.
