The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has announced the start of the sale of forms for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination and Direct Entry for admission into Nigerian tertiary institutions.
The announcement was made on Tuesday through JAMB’s official platform, confirming that the exercise is for candidates seeking admission in the 2026/2027 academic session across universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education.
Registration for UTME candidates will begin in January 2026 and run until March 2026, with the main examination scheduled for April. JAMB stated that candidates will register from January 26 to February 28, while the UTME itself will take place between April 16 and April 25, 2026. A mock examination has also been fixed for March 28.
The board explained that applicants must have a National Identification Number before registering. It added that candidates are expected to be at least 16 years old by September 30, 2026, while younger applicants may be considered only after passing a strict evaluation process.
For Direct Entry applicants, JAMB said the sale of forms will begin on March 2 and end on April 25, 2026. The board noted that Direct Entry registration will only be done at its state and zonal offices nationwide.
