The Federal Government has warned that it will take over half of the Ibadan–Ilesha expressway project if the contractor fails to follow new directives issued by the Ministry of Works.

The warning came from the Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, during an inspection of the road project on Wednesday, where he expressed concern over delays in fixing badly damaged sections of the highway.

The minister also made it clear that the government will not pay for unnecessary earthwork, insisting that only approved construction methods will be funded, while assuring motorists that temporary asphalt repairs will be carried out quickly to improve safety and comfort on the road.
