The Anambra State Government has warned churches in Onitsha to stop loud activities that disturb schools during teaching hours.
The notice came after reports that weekday church programmes are creating noise that disrupts lessons for pupils and students in nearby schools.
The concern is centered in Onitsha, the state’s busiest commercial city, where churches and schools often operate close to each other.
State officials said the situation affects learning, as students struggle to focus during classes, tests, and examinations due to excessive sound.
The government advised church leaders to reduce noise levels and adjust activity schedules during school hours, saying respect for education must go along with religious practice and public order.
