Concerns over public safety surfaced in Ogun State after a nurses’ group accused a private clinic in Ijebu Ode of training and presenting unqualified people as nurses.

The Elegant Nurses Forum said the alleged activity took place at Elshaddai Clinic, where individuals were reportedly trained, graduated and publicly displayed as nurses without approval from recognised authorities.
The forum warned that nursing is a regulated profession and that allowing untrained people to operate as nurses puts patients at risk of serious harm, medical errors and possible loss of life.
It blamed weak oversight for the situation, accusing the Ogun State Ministry of Health of failing to stop the practice or allowing it to continue unchecked.

The group also faulted the state government, saying tolerance of fake health workers shows disregard for citizens’ safety and proper healthcare standards.
The nurses demanded the immediate shutdown of the clinic’s alleged training programme, the arrest and prosecution of those involved, and the withdrawal of all individuals said to have been illegally trained.
They also called for sanctions against any health officials found complicit and urged the state government to publicly outline steps to end quackery in the health sector, warning they would continue to speak out until action is taken.
