He spoke out on Tuesday as tensions continued among followers of key opposition leaders ahead of the 2027 general election.

Atiku addressed the issue after reacting to a post on X that accused his supporters of insulting Peter Obi while expecting him to be spared criticism.

He made it clear that anyone who attacks either Obi or himself does not have the interests of Nigerians or the opposition coalition at heart.

He said internal fights among supporters of the African Democratic Congress amount to a civil war that weakens the opposition.

According to him, such division only strengthens the All Progressives Congress, which he described as a group determined to keep the current order in place.

Atiku stressed that opposition leaders and their supporters are stronger when united. He warned that trading insults creates mistrust and distracts from the shared goal of offering Nigerians an alternative government in the next election cycle.

Both Atiku and Obi are part of the ADC coalition working to challenge President Bola Tinubu in 2027.

However, disagreements among their supporters over who should lead the ticket have continued to cause friction, raising concerns about unity within the opposition camp.
