The Federal Capital Territory Administration has refuted claims that all government schools would shut down on November 28, saying no such directive was issued by any arm of the administration.
In a statement on Tuesday, Lere Olayinka, Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media to FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, announced that the Minister has ordered the immediate suspension of the Mandate Secretary for Education, Dr Danlami Hayyo.
The Acting Head of Service, Mrs Nancy Sabanti Nathan, has also been instructed to take disciplinary action against the Director of School Services, Mrs Aishatu Sani Alhassan, for issuing an unauthorised circular in violation of civil service rules.
The administration described the circulating report on early school closure as false and urged parents, students and school authorities to ignore it, noting that the approved academic calendar remains in place.
The FCTA assured residents of continued security across the capital, adding that Minister Wike has directed the resumption of Operation Sweep alongside other security measures to strengthen safety, especially for students.
