A fresh dispute has broken out within the Zamfara chapter of the All Progressives Congress as three party officials head to court to challenge their suspension.

The clash centres on how the decision was made and who authorised it. The suspended officials — Babangida Shinkafi, Kabiru Ibrahim, and Ibrahim Kurya — said their suspension was delivered verbally by the Shinkafi Local Government Chairman without any formal accusation or chance to defend themselves. They argued that attending a political meeting should not be treated as an offence.

The party leadership offered a different account of the matter. The state chairman, Tukur Danfulani, viewed their presence at the meeting organised by the Wamban Shinkafi Democratic Front as an act against the party’s interest, especially given the factional battles that have troubled the chapter. The meeting was said to align with a political camp loyal to Dr Sani Abdullahi Shinkafi.

A separate meeting on November 11 by the Wamban Shinkafi Democratic Front gave the same endorsement and backed Yari as the party leader in the state, a move that reportedly triggered the suspensions now under contention.
As the dispute moves to court, party members in the state will be watching to see whether the intervention brings a pause to the crisis or deepens the divide ahead of future primaries.
