AbdulRazaq Vows Tougher Security In Kwara Troubled Communities

Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has pledged that his administration will deploy all available resources to protect the lives and businesses of residents across Kwara State.

The governor gave the assurance during a visit to Babanla and Oke-Ode in Ifelodun Local Government Area on Saturday, communities recently hit by repeated attacks from kidnappers and bandits. The wave of insecurity had forced some residents to flee their homes.

AbdulRazaq, accompanied by security chiefs including Brigade Commander Brigadier General Barkins and Police Commissioner Adekimi Ojo, said multi-agency deployments have been made to restore calm and deter further criminal activities.

He commiserated with families of victims of the recent attacks and commended security operatives and local residents for their resilience. “We are working hard to prevent further breaches. It is a sad incident which we are determined to curtail,” he said.

The governor also acknowledged the warm reception by the Oba of Babanla, Oba Aliyu Adegboyega Yusuf Arojojoye II, expressing satisfaction that peace was gradually returning to the affected areas.

To cushion the impact on victims, AbdulRazaq directed the Kwara State Social Investment Programme (KWASSIP) to document affected persons in collaboration with community leaders to ensure proper support and accountability.

He assured residents that government efforts would not only guarantee security but also revive economic activities in the communities.
