Aregbesola Leads ADC Membership Drive, Calls For Rejection Of Major Parties In 2027

With the 2027 general elections drawing closer, Interim National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress, Rauf Aregbesola, has launched a large-scale membership campaign in Lagos, urging Nigerians to reject the All Progressives Congress, Peoples Democratic Party, and Labour Party.

Aregbesola, a former governor of Osun State and ex-Minister, visited Kosofe Local Government Area on Monday to rally support for the ADC. According to party influencer Funmi Onita-Coker, the visit was aimed at recruiting new members and energizing grassroots participation.

Addressing supporters, Aregbesola said the ADC is offering Nigerians a fresh start and a new vision for development. He encouraged residents to spread the party’s message across their communities and assured them that resources would be provided to sustain the recruitment drive.

He called on citizens to use the ADC platform to remove the current APC-led government, arguing that the ruling party, alongside PDP and LP, had failed to deliver progress over the years. He also urged voters to remain vigilant in protecting their votes during the elections.

His remarks drew a sharp response from Lagos APC, which questioned his criticism of the party he had been part of for more than two decades. The state chapter argued that Aregbesola shared responsibility for the outcomes of past administrations and accused him of seeking political relevance.

The APC maintained that it remains united and focused on delivering governance to Lagos residents and Nigerians, while welcoming constructive engagement but rejecting what it described as political theatrics and misinformation.
