Fubara Declares Support for Tinubu, Wike Coalition Ahead of 2027

Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has openly declared his support for President Bola Tinubu and the Rainbow Coalition, the political movement associated with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The governor made his position known on Tuesday during the groundbreaking ceremony for the reconstruction and equipping of the Riven Medical Facility, a pharmaceutical manufacturing project being developed through a public-private partnership in Rivers State.

Fubara said the political conflict that had divided the state for months had come to an end. He urged his supporters to rally behind every candidate presented by the Rainbow Coalition, saying he had fully returned to the political family and was committed to its success in future elections.

He also made it clear that he had no intention of delaying his support for the coalition, explaining that his decision had already been made. According to him, the period of political confrontation was over, and the state should now focus on peace, unity and development.

The governor stated that he would not be involved in any activity capable of creating fresh divisions in Rivers State. He said the necessary steps had already been taken to resolve the political issues, adding that the state must now move forward.

Speaking about the Riven Medical Facility, Fubara said his administration decided to support the investment after receiving assurances from the promoters regarding the project’s feasibility and delivery schedule.

He disclosed that the first phase of the pharmaceutical factory is expected to be completed within three months. According to him, the facility will help drive industrial growth, create employment opportunities and establish Rivers State as a centre for the production of medical consumables.

Fubara added that the project is expected to boost economic activities by attracting investors and customers from within and outside Nigeria. He also expressed confidence that the development would encourage other industries to establish operations around the facility.

The governor assured the investors of the state government’s full cooperation and appealed to members of the host community to provide the peaceful environment needed for the project to succeed.

He further revealed that the Rivers State Government is currently involved in legal disputes with several companies over claims exceeding ₦200 billion. According to him, his administration is determined to avoid contract-related disagreements that could discourage investors from bringing projects into the state.

Fubara expressed confidence that the first phase of the pharmaceutical factory would be completed and ready for commissioning within the next three months.
