Former Peoples Democratic Party deputy national publicity secretary Diran Odeyemi has claimed that the African Democratic Congress is largely influenced by Atiku Abubakar and his loyalists.

Speaking on News Central TV’s Politics HQ on Tuesday, Odeyemi alleged that Abubakar moved his political associates into the party, describing ADC as “Atiku Disciples Congress.” He warned that any presidential hopeful joining the party would lose influence there.

Odeyemi also said Abubakar could have won the 2023 presidential election if he had picked Peter Obi as his running mate. He added that Atiku’s refusal to meet the G5 governors’ demand to remove Iyorchia Ayu as PDP national chairman was a costly misstep.

The PDP chieftain questioned whether Abubakar’s advisers properly studied the political climate before making key decisions.

On the 2027 race, Odeyemi suggested Atiku would leave ADC if former President Goodluck Jonathan joined the party. His remarks come after ex-Jigawa governor Sule Lamido described Jonathan as the PDP’s best option for the next presidential election and urged the party to bring him back.
